Movie
For my short film I went to the “Rahmi Koç museum” in Turkey during my winter break. I start the film with a scene from a restaurant, sitting with my friend; while recording the scene I did the 180 rule and a close-up shot when saying the quote “it is cars” to make it more dramatic. I recorded the sounds of the restaurant off camera and edited in the background, for the dialogues I muted the videos and did a voiceover with a microphone. For my monologue again, I used a microphone to get a clear sound and I added a background music “Mozart: Requiem In D Minor, K.626 – 3. Sequentia: Lacrimosa” to make it more emotional.
Mood-board
My passion for cars started with the Pixar movie “Cars”. So I began my mood board with frames from the film; I especially wanted to add the opening scene, where we are introduced to Lightning Mcqueen featuring his details on his body: the stickers. That is how I got the idea to match my writing font “CARs 6 I “ (in Caveat) which I found the most similar to the writing on Mcqueen’s roof. For the colour palette I took inspiration from the movies’ couple Sally and Mcqueen: blue and red. I also added pictures of myself interacting with cars to personalise.
Creative Writing
“My Tyre Marks” is a short story of my passion for cars. I wrote about where my journey started: the Pixar movie “Cars” and its iconic opening quote by Lightning McQueen, my childhood where I mention my choice of toys; cars, a connection that opened the door of an unexpected parallel with horse riding and my first driving experience. I try to describe a deep, almost spiritual connection that I have with cars. I wanted to write my short story in a poetic voice because it is more engaging with the reader and I felt like it showed my passion more effectively.
Audio
For my audio, I used the help of my friend Cherie. I prepared a question & answer interview that is talking about my passion: Cars. For the recording I connected a microphone to my computer. First I did my recording on the “Voice Memos” app then I moved my recording to “Imovie”. I edited my recording by dividing and deleting the mistakes. I shortened the unnecessary parts. I started my search for Non-copyright music on youtube; When I found one I converted the youtube video into a MP3. I inserted the background music and adjusted it to my recordings length. I chose to do a Q+A because I felt like it was a clear way to express myself.
